Critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) refers to a group of serious heart defects affecting the structure or the heart’s vessels which are present from birth. CCHD can prevent the heart from circulating blood efficiently or reduce the amount of oxygen in the blood, which can lead to organ damage and life-threatening complications (CDC, 2019).
