The Tego® is a closed needle free connector designed specifically for use with hemodialysis CVADs. It allows for significantly less catheter hub manipulation, and minimizes the risk of catheter contamination and central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI). The Tego® is able to accommodate flow rates up to 600 mL/min which are used during hemodialysis treatments. The Tego® is also a neutral displacement connector. It is designed to reduce fluid movement within the dialysis lumen. This will reduce the likelihood that blood would move into the lumen, therefore reducing the chances of clot formation. The reduced fluid movement will also ensure that the full amount of locking solution stays within the catheter.
